research into differences between PSB and commercial radio

PSB - Public service broadcasting includes television, radio and all other outlets that the media content can be seen or heard e.g. The Internet. the BBC is the main british public service broadcaster in the UK. The British 'public' payed a licensing fee of £142.50 a year, thats £11.88 a months or 40p a day between April 2009 and March 2010. the licensing fee has now gone up £145.50 a year for a Technicolor television license.
The public, because of this licensing fee expect a high quality of broadcasting and programming, showing versatility.

the british broadcasting company ltd employed John Reith as general manager , and then in 1923 became Managing Director, and made the BBC what it is today, and therefore creating the Reithian values ( to inform, educate and entertain ) which are still in play today.

Commercial - all other commercial television channels and radio stations in the United Kingdom have to use advertisments to fund their programming, e.g. ITV and Touch fm.
Advertising on the Radio enable the station to claim a fee off the company requesting distribution of their advertisments.
Therefore supply the station or channel with funding to broadcast.
